GRADES AND LOWER PREMIUMS

It is not very surprising to know that those students who handle their academic duties well also turn out to be reasonable drivers. Though a proper research nexus has not been proven it makes rational sense to expect students who have more at stake to make sure their actions remain well within the limitations of the law.

If your teenager maintains good grades it is highly probable that insurance companies will factor this in to give you cheaper premium rates. Most companies will give you a reasonable discount if your teenager maintains an average B grade. If you’re a A student then expect much higher discounts. And lower premiums!!!

And this offer isn’t just limited to grades. Sometimes the right type of extra and co-curricular activities can also influence your insurer to put a better offer in front of you. The general notion remains that kids with bad grades are more prone to drugs, drinking and other activities which may not be illegal but contain a significant risk factor. The risk of having an irresponsible teen behind the driving wheel is the primary reason why insurance companies will give you higher premiums.

Grades are also considered representative of your peer and interest groups. These factors might be considered absolutely arbitrary but they provide insurance companies help in deciding policy. Studies have shown that students who are struggling through school are more likely to lend cars to friends for numerous reasons. Insurance companies do not provide coverage in such cases, especially when the possibility exists that the new driver will be underage and unlicensed.

Good grades also mean that if your initial premium is placed high because of the nature of your car or your parents record, the probability of the premium falling quickly rises proportionately. Thus the whole process becomes feasible in the long term.

The most important part remains the care factor. Children work hard not just for themselves but to impress their parents and make them proud. Good grades, trophies and certificates are all testament not just to the kids efforts but also how much effort their parents have put into them. Celebrate your young ones good grades and efforts by buying them a car. If they have been proven to be responsible individuals then try giving them more responsibility in the form of a car. And keep an insurance policy as a back up plan since accidents aren’t just the result of one driver.
